What is bio-identical hormone therapy?

Bio-identical hormone therapy, often referred to as BHRT, uses plant-derived hormones that are
structurally identical to those produced by the human body. It helps balance
hormones in men and women experiencing deficiencies or imbalances.

How is BHRT different from traditional hormone therapy?

Traditional HRT often uses synthetic or animal-derived hormones, while BHRT uses bioidentical
hormones that mimic the body's natural hormones, potentially leading to fewer side effects and
better absorption.

How much does a compounded BHRT cost?

There are several factors that influence the cost of a compound but most BHRT prescriptions cost
between $45 and $60.

Is my compound covered by insurance?

Most insurance does not cover compounds to the point where we are not contracted to bill any
insurance for them. However, we can offer a manual claim form for you to turn in to your insurance
and may get some of your cost reimbursed.

How long does it take to compound my BHRT?

We generally ask for 2 business days to compound a custom prescription for a patient.
It may be completed sooner, and we will contact you as soon as your prescription is ready, or if
there is any delay.

How is BHRT administered?

We prefer to use topical creams for most BHRT. This allows us to use the lowest effective dose due
the cream absorbing directly into the tissue.

How do you know which dose I need?

We use a non-invasive saliva test that gives us a clear picture of your current hormone levels. Our
hormone consultant pharmacist will then meet with you to discuss your levels and the symptoms
you’re experiencing. From that conversation, she will create a custom treatment plan for you.
